Kayaking Adventures at Lazy Acres

With five kayaks piled in two trucks, Mom, Dad, Colin, Jorge and I crawled slowly toward the lake at camp Lazy Acres in New York.

It was a hot July day, perfect for a smooth paddle – my first kayaking experience.

And not a bad place for it!

The water was still, serene and reflected the surrounding foliage like a mirror.

We even had an audience.

Jorge was the first one in.

Time for kayak number two.

Mom was next.

Company!

Neither of them had fallen in yet so I considered myself ready.

Turns out it was much easier than expected.

I even won a race.

I was, of course, forced to surrender my camera and just relax. Colin, Dad and Jorge caught fish. I made my way around the lake several time and then chilled out in the sun which was pretty perfect, just missing tea and a good magazine! Next time, bring on the rapids!

Great photos! My OH loves kayaking but has sold his as he wasn’t getting out enough, the bike and walking took over. Pleased you didn’t fall in 😉

Ha! I am also pleased I didn’t fall in!! I suppose it probably is a pain to take a kayak out very often unless you have a base near the water. I’d love to rent one in the Regents Canal here in London.

Great bonding activity — kayaking, plus a little fishing. Fun and easy, too.
